Pour It, Pure It, Drink It!

Pour It, Pure It, Drink It!

Seven Steps to Becoming Fully Hydrated

You’re constantly being told you need to drink more water. Drinking two liters of water a day can improve your skin, improve the quality of your joints, keep you regular, aid weight loss and reduce your risk of having a heart attack.

However, like anything, it can be hard to motivate yourself to do it. Here are seven easy steps to take you on your way to becoming fully hydrated:

  1. Pure it: Tap water or water from natural springs often contains harmful bacteria. Make sure you invest in a water purification system like the Sure Aqua Bottle, the Sure Aqua products, or the Sure Aqua Jerry Can. Simply pour it, pure it, drink it!
  2. Sip it: You aren’t expected to drink the whole two liters in one sitting. If you did, most of it would flush straight through you anyway. The best way to make sure you drink lots of water is to keep a water purification bottle or straw with you at all times and sip at it the whole day. That way, it becomes a mindless activity, and before you know it, you will be fully hydrated.
  3. Know it: Understand the benefits of making sure you’re fully hydrated with clean, safe water. The more reasons you know why it’s good for you, the more water you’re likely to drink.
  4. Integrate it: Make drinking water a habit and integrate it into your daily lifestyle. You could make sure you always have a glass of water before a meal, for example, or keep water by your bedside to drink first thing in the morning.
  5. Leave it: No need to change your habits; there’s water in everything, right? Wrong. Sure, drinks like tea, coffee, soft drinks, fruit juice, and beer contain water. However, many of these drinks are diuretic, meaning they cause your kidneys to get rid of water, increasing your urination rate.

Drinking caffeinated, alcoholic, or sugary drinks can actually hinder your ability to become fully hydrated. They’re also quite bad for your health and can therefore reduce the likelihood of all your diligent water drinking having the right effects. So long as you have a way to pure it, it’s best to stick with water, plain and simple.

  6. Replace it: Despite your best intentions, it’s unlikely that you’ll give up drinking everything but water entirely. That’s okay: just make sure you replace the water that the diuretics flush out. To make sure you stay fully hydrated, you need to drink one and a half times the amount of water you lose after drinking caffeine, sugar, or alcohol. Simply pour it, pure it, drink it!
  7. Match it: The two-liter a day rule is suitable as a general guide. However, it’s essential to match your water intake with the physical conditions your body is enduring. It’s a good idea to drink more than two liters if you’re unwell, doing exercise or it’s a hot day.

So, follow these seven simple steps, and you’ll be on your way to becoming fully hydrated. Remember, pure, clean water is the go: simply pour it, pure it, drink it!

Increasing Water Contamination in a Thirsty World

Water contamination problems – big subject – where do we start? Water pollution, water diseases, and other forms of water problems affecting oceans, lakes, rivers, dams, creeks, and including contaminated groundwater, is a significant problem despite water quality management.

It’s estimated 14,000 people die each day due to drinking from a contaminated water supply. In countries across Asia and Africa, an estimated 2 million die each year from water-related disease, and that around 1 billion people worldwide do not have access to clean water or basic water purification systems.

While we associate water contamination problems with third-world countries, where the lack of water purifiers and access to clean water is,, without doubt,, a critically acute problem, the Western world also faces growing challenges.

Estimated effects of water pollution indicate 45% of the streams in the U.S.A., 47% of lake surface,, and 32% of coastal bays and estuaries suffer from water-borne diseases and pollution. However, pollution in water is not always

man-made. Causes of water problems include climatic fluctuations leading to algae blooms, flooding, storms, and earthquakes.

Contamination is assessed by the ability of the body of water to support marine or aquatic life or as a drinking water system, particularly for human life. Contaminated groundwater or surface water may be caused by a range of contaminants such as pathogenic microbes including viruses, parasitic protozoa, and bacteria, pesticides and herbicides, oil and petrol, salts,, and radioactive substances.

Contaminated water problems from industry, agriculture, stormwater, and untreated sewage significantly impact on the purity of our water systems. While water quality problems can be critical for all sorts of activities such as farming, it is in the area of providing individual drinking water filters for human use that Sure Aqua really excels.

Surprising Water Contamination in Bottled Water

An important point to note when you are traveling – particularly with babies or young infants – bottled water often just taps water and is not sterile.

Bacteria in non-threatening numbers are naturally present in bottled water. However, bacteria can be dormant in bottled water.  These dormant bacteria have the capability of start multiplying within 30-days.  With higher storage temperatures are reached, bacteria can grow quickly and multiply very fact to lethal levels. The World Health Organization has issued warnings directed to the elderly, pregnant women, and young children with a ‘heads up to all adults that there is a high possibility of this happening I some bottled water.

Reverse the Risk of Bacteria Contamination

Water contaminated by bacteria and waterborne disease is one of the world’s major health catastrophes resulting in millions of deaths every year and an estimated 443 million school days lost each year.

In a report published by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, California, they indicate 400 under 5-year-olds die every hour due to contaminated water supplies – a problem affecting approximately 1.1 billion people – while the World Health Organization (WHO) report the number of deaths occurring each year due to diarrhea caused by contamination and bacteria in water equals 20 full jumbo jets crashing each day.

Drinking-Water Bacteria in Municipal Water

Waterborne bacteria include potentially deadly cholera and typhoid, botulism, dysentery, e-coli, and more. While we know these forms of contamination can be found in tap water in third-world countries, Western countries may also experience contamination by bacteria from water supplies.

Even though you may believe your tap water has undergone intensive water treatment, bacteria can still be present. Coliform bacteria is a commonly found, low-risk microbe. However, if found in drinking water, it is a cause for concern as it indicates water bacteria levels of harmful microbes such as e-coli.

Coliform bacteria may enter water supplies due to a break-down in the water treatment plant or the pipes. Though any city is at risk, those in rural areas of the U.S.A. with inadequate water treatment or faulty pipes have higher levels of risk.

Bottled Water Not Safe from Water Bacteria

While claims have been made that no disease has ever been caused by bottled water, bacteria in bottled water resulted in an outbreak of cholera, according to documentation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and reported by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)*. Despite the bottling company declaring they had filtered the water with state-of-the-art reverse osmosis, water coliform bacteria (fecal coliform) was found in the bottled water.

As there are many different brands of varying quality, and there is no guarantee the water in the bottle you have purchased has undergone water purification, bacteria in sickening numbers may still be present. In fact, some studies have found a significant perception of water purity comes from the advertising and packaging rather than the actual water.

Sure Aqua products Ultra-Effective Against Bacteria

This incredibly low-cost, re-usable filter straw can be used time and again for up to 500 liters (132 gallons), potentially lasting for months, and also removing e-coli and parasitic cysts.

An accredited laboratory has tested Sure Aqua products water filters ‘bacteria free’, after removing 99.9999% of bacteria from contaminated water supplies, and as safe for anyone, anywhere to use.
